Equipment
Hi Coach,
I am an intermediate amateur player. My playing style is close to table push, loops and block. Some times mid distance counter topspin or chops. Presently I am using Donic 3000 pre assembled racket.
I am planning to get Yasaka Mark-V 2.0 mm on both sides on a Stiga Allround Classic blade. Is the combination OK for my style of play. I am also fascinated by Yasaka silver line all wood, but not getting many reviews about the blade. How would be Yasak Swden Classic. Suggest me the best combination.
How would be Yasaka Mark-V pre made racket?
Hi Joyotosh,
I think Mark V is a good choice.
We also have the PingSkills Touch with Mark V which we recommend for players moving up from a pre-made racket.

Thank you sir, for such a quick response. It would add more value if I get your suggestion on blade as well. Ping Skill Touch is definitely an option and I have never ruled it out. But since blade and rubber I can get from a local sports shop which would cost me less. So frankly cost is also a factor. I value the kind of service you are giving for the cause of table tennis. It is incredible.

Joyotosh, the Stiga is an all wood blade designed to favour control rather than speed. Combined with the Mark V, which favours speed and spin slightly more than control, you should have a pretty good all-round set up for an intermediate player.
If you want/need a little more control on either side think about using the 1.8mm instead of the 2.0mm. Conversely if you are confident with your control and think you can handle a little more speed, think about a 2.2mm or max thickness.
I'm surprised you can have that blade and Mark V rubbers put together for less than the the PingSkills Touch with Mark V, but if you can ...

Thanks Rohan. Your comments are very valuable for me. It seems the choice of Mark-V on Stiga allround Classic is a good combination. I am also considering PingSkills Touch with mark-V some one guided me that it is a very good racket for my style of play. But still if some one can comment on Yasaka Silver Line All Wood blade. This is a beautiful blade. I would love to posses, but only if it suits my style of play.

Hi JOYOTOSH DEY,
Today is my first day to try my new rubbers on the Donic 3000's blade, I removed the original rubbers and replaced them with T05 for the FH and Acuda S2 for the BH. I hope it will work.
Have a nice day

Hello Karmel,
Please post your feed back about this new set up.

Hi Joyotosh,
Yesterday I've played 3 hours with it, and i can say it has a very good control and its speed is also good. Chops sometimes go high but i think that because of me not because of the blade. I'll keep playing with it until I completely control it and I'll tell you more.

Thank you
And sorry for my bad English

Joyotosh, I've not eyeballed or used the Yasaka Silver Line All Wood blade but the very hard top plies will mean, if using the same rubbers on both both blades, the Yaska will be faster and will feel harder than the Stiga Classic. A quick Google returns a few reviews that read together imply to me you loose a little control but gain a little speed when choosing the Yasaka and it takes the blade from an ALL to and ALL+. It is apparently still designed for close and near the table rather than away from it - same as the Stiga.
Personally, between the 2, I'd go for the play-ability advantage of Stiga, but all TT equipment is a very personal choice so it depends on what feels better to you.
GL with deciding.
