Dear All,

I am planning to purchase a Donic Waldner 700 TT racquet. I am a average player and i play aggressive style and have lots to learn w.r.t the game. I am planning to purchase this particular product because of a special discount i am getting. Request you to advice me about the product and will it be a help.

Hi Ankit,

This will be a good starter racket for you.  It should allow you to generate some spin and also be slow enough to control the ball.

Hi Ankit

I just wanted to tell u is that donic waldners is a good bat for sure bt it's bit heavy so wat u cn do is go fr tibhar power grip which is a decent allround bat nd it's also cheaper than waldner 700

Hi Dhruv / Atharva,

Can you suggest a bat under 2k? I am an intermediate level player with an attacking style but mainly going to use the bat for recreational purposes.

Thanks,

Gautam

Hi Gautam,

For less than 2000 rupees, you can get a basic bat.  Make sure that it has some sponge under the rubber and the surface of the rubber has grip (not pimples).

Perhaps u shud go fr joola mistral which is an allround bat Nd also it's very light

This was my previous racket. I used it for 3 years and even beat a few pros along the way with it before getting my own custom racket. Excellent spin and control and you can speed up the game when needed.

for recreational purposes go for joola mistral or tibhar samsonov powergrip.

hi Ankit - can you let me know how is the donic 700? from what I have read it seems it has good control but lacks in speed as well as spin.

Gautam Sarin Posted 10 years ago

Also Dhruv / Atharva - isnt Joola Rosspokf Smash a better bat for an attacking player than Mistral? It costs the same as well.

I dnt knw much about it bt mistral is a very good racket cuz it has gt  a lot of spin nd the. Bat is also vry light nd it hs fiesta rubbers which r also fast

I personally am not a fan of donic stuff.i feel joola is a better company......as far as my understanding goes joola mistral is a level higher bat than rosskopf.....mistral is an all round bat whereas as you say rossy is for attack.but I believe that when a bat is made just for attack its very likely it brings compromise on spin and defence front.for all intensive purposes I would go for mistral.

Gautam,

It is a little heavier than other TT racquets, and spin and speed is not an issue.

Gautam Sarin

Gautam Sarin Posted 10 years ago

But ankit are you happy with the racket? else I was inclined to go for Joola Mistral / Smash.

Dhruv / Athrava - would you the thickness of mistral's sponge / rubber? is it 1.8mm or 2mm?

also any idea how is GKi euro V? Its in the same price range and has excellent reviews on all online sites.

Dhruv Maniar

Dhruv Maniar Posted 10 years ago

gki bats are much heavier than joola or butterfly.many gki rubbers aren't ittf approved that shud be taken into account.ps-ittf approval is interbational and ttfi is way less prestigious indian,so ittf ones are clear choice here.joola mistral i think is1.8 mm rubber.

choose mistral over donic 700 anyday.

ok thanks Dhruv for your opinion, but after a lot of research and a bit of personal experience I have decided to go for Gki euro V. Have asked around some table tennis gurus and everyone had suggested Gki Euro XX over any foreign brand in the same price range, but I thought that was a bit over for me in terms of control and performance and then I was suggested Gki euro V. Both of them have ITTF approved rubbers.

Also yesterday I played with my friend's Butterfly Timo Boll 2000 (a 1400 Rs racket) and then played with Stag official TT bat (a 500 Rs racket). The butterfly bat was much lighter but was nowhere near the speed and spin of the much cheaper stag bat, the stag bat had much more power and spin. I know Joola is not butterfly but now I was a bit skeptical as the Butterfly Timo Boll 2000 was just awful. And having read so many fabulous reviews of Gki euro V, I have decided to go for this.

Shall let everyone know on the performance of the bat soon.

all the best with your bat....sounds like u like heavier bats, same used to be the case with me.I loved my kung fu!!...i must point out that the euro v has an anatomic handle whereas the stag ant butterfly have the flared one.Its just a matter of preference and not that one is better than the other.
