Equipment
Hi Coach,
I am not sure if I'm using the right blade. Currently, I'm using combination blade with LP OX and 0.5 mm inverted rubbers. Also I consider myself modern defender. What kind of blade do you recommend? Is it def+, def-, off+, off- or all around blade?
I appreciate very for your professional advice. Thank you.
Rodrigo
Hi Rodrigo,
I would use something like a Def+ or ALL blade so that you can also attack as well as defend.

Thank you, Coach. By the way, can you recommend me a blade suitable to my playing style. I am kind of limited mobility because of my advancing age. Many thanks to all your professional help. Rodrigo

There are literally hundreds of options.

With the all info I've given to you about me, my paddle/rubbers and playing style (long backhand and attack if bali is returned), can you please be more specific which is suited for the Def+ or All blade. Thanks!

The problem is that there are hundreds of options that are suitable. We aren't really equipment experts and don't keep up with all the latest offerings by each company. We believe that as long as you have something decent, the thing that will have the biggest impact on your game is improving your skill level through training.
Have you researched some options you think may good with a Def+ or ALL rating? See what you can find and then list the options here and we can ask the other readers if they have any experience with them. Good luck with your search!

Rodrigo, in your initial message, you mention that you're currently using a "combination" blade. To me, this type of specialized blade (slower on the backhand side, faster on the forehand side) is precisely intended for the "modern defender" playing style. So why do you want to change your blade actually?

Jean, Thanks for the info! The reason I was asking if I have the right blade is that backhand part of the blade's speed is 65 and then I put a long pip rubber. The speed would be much slower and my opponent would have lots of time to decide what kind of return. Like for example, he'll return fast, backspin/side spin, etc.

Rodrigo, the numbers do not have to be always worth of trust.
I was personally using a YinHe Galaxy T9 blade, which is a combo blade with fast forehand and slow backhand,in combo with Rakza on forehand and TSP longpips on backhand.
Though I was surprised how strongly I can attak even with backhand.
Overally, can I ask what is your current setup?
