Hi Coach

What is a anti spin rubber? What are its advantages? Who uses them?

Hi Tushar,

Anti-spin rubber is a rubber that has no grip on it.  Because it has no grip, it also doesn’t react with spin so it almost deadens the spin that comes to it.

They aren’t used much at all now.  Most players that want to deaden the spin will use long pimples now because you can do more with them.

Is is possible when a player (using anti spin rubber) smashes a topspin. The ball with have backspin as anti spin rubbers reverses the spin.

When you smash it you it will be very flat.  It may feel like backspin because of the speed and flatness compared to a smash with normal rubber.

Actually, anti spin rubber doesn't reverse the spin. It simply reverses the direction of the ball without effecting the spin and what is an under spin serve to your opponent will become an over spin ball when your opponent returns it to you. When I play against anti spin rubber I serve under spin knowing I'll get and over spin return which is easier to smash.
