How can you fix a rubber with bubbles on the middle of the rubber , I mean like the top sheet and the sponge is like separated but only one portion of the rubber , and that's the middle , is it still fixable or its just dead gone?

Hi Patrick,

Unfortunately there is no cure for this.  It does happen sometimes with rubber especially if glue gets through the sponge onto the rubber.

You are better off to get a new sheet of rubber.  What kind of rubber is it?

OK, thank.  It is always interesting to see which rubbers are tending to bubble.  Has anyone else had problems with Rakza 7?

I have bumps, not actual bubbles on new Xiom Vega Elite 2.0 red.  Needs to be in just right lighting angle.  Used Bfly Free Chack.  Seems glue my be lumping on sponge as it all came off the sealed blade when I tried to reposition sheet then gave up and had to remove all together. I can't get it off the sponge even though it is advertised to roll off with finger.

I have a Superspin G3 Platinum by Giant Dragon where the top sheet has come away from the sponge after 4 sessions.  At first I thought it was the glue on the blade but that was fine.  I'm about to call the seller to see if they'll cover it.  I have another one that I am now loth to use.

Here in Florida bubbling can be a problem if players leave the racket in their car, scooter, hot garage or anywhere where it is hot and/or is in direct sunlight.  I remind players not to do this.  Also, I coach a woman who plays pickleball (very popular here) as well as table tennis and she is outdoors most of the day and has to leave her racket in her saddlebags.  This caused bubbling on her rubber.  I recommended that she place a "freeze pack" in her racket case and this solved the problem. Her new rubber is fine.

Also, there is a problem with KTL Stranger OX rubber.  In my latest shipment the rubber was stuck to the package on both sides of the rubber and would deform when trying to pull it apart.  If soaked in water for a day it would come apart but it was very difficult to mount on a blade. If it has any thickness of sponge it is OK.

Regards, Phillip

Hi Joe,

This bubbling shouldn't happen so quickly. It is bad gluing between the sponge and rubber.  I would talk to the seller.

Had a bubble on a sheet of Yasaka Rakza 7 Soft (1.8mm black). First time ever this happens to me. I think it happend after a strong smash. The rubber was about 2 months old (around 40 hours). The sponge underneath was properly glued and was in good condition after removal, so it's really the rubber top sheet separating from the sponge.
