Tomahawk Serve Preview

Table Tennis Advice

Here's a preview of our tutorial on how to perform the tomahawk serve. The tomahawk serve is a great serve to learn as the action comes naturally to a lot of people. You can disguise the different types of spin with small changes of your bat angle. It is also good for younger players who aren't tall enough for the pendulum serve.

If you're interested in learning more about serving the take a look at our serving secrets course.

Still new to the game, I'm experimenting a lot with serves and gameplay.  This looks a good serve to experiment with; thanks for the ideas.

Is it illegal to serve the ball as close to the net as possible? I heard that from someone as I want to see if it's true.

@Chris - great to see you experimenting, it's a great way to learn new serves.

@Joseph - you can serve the ball as close to the net as you like.

see, I already serve it pretty well but, I don't stand and serve

I kneel on one leg and then serve I feel it's better

This works well because you get low and contact the ball from lower.

The reverse Tomahawk is quite difficult for me.  Have you got any tips on that?  Thanks.
