Using Stripe to Accept Payments

Pingskills is now using Stripe for processing our payments. We previously used PayPal but I found it was hard to manage subscriptions. For example if someone wanted to switch from a monthly plan to a yearly plan, it would only work if someone had subscribed using their PayPal account. With Stripe this process is much easier to manage.

Another feature that I'd been wanting to implement was to offer long time members discounts on their premium membership. Again with PayPal this is not a straight forward process. With Stripe it should be much easier.

Some other advantages of Stripe are that the user stays on the PingSkills website the whole time so the flow is much better and it's less confusing for someone signing up as a new member. Since you enter your card details on our website we've moved over to using SSL so that when you're credit card details are sent to Stripe it is encrypted. PingSkills still does not store any of your credit card details, we leave that to Stripe since they are the security experts. Stripe has been audited by a PCI-certified auditor, and is certified to PCI Service Provider Level 1. This is the most stringent level of certification available.
