Hi guys, is there any advantage to practicing with 38 mm balls? Our HOA where I play bought a bunch not knowing. Or will it really mess you up?

Hi Mark,

I don't think there is any real advantage in training with the smaller ball.  I think because Table Tennis is so specific with its skills you should practice with the appropriate equipment mainly.

As a novelty or to increase awareness you could train with them sometimes but only on an odd occasion.

#46 - Tournament Preparation 2

In the first week of your preparation we focused on the consistency of your third ball attack. This week, since the third ball is so important, we are going to continue working on this. However this week we are going to focus on placement. It is really important tactically to think about where you are going to play the ball. We build upon the drills from last week so you can improve the effectiveness of your third ball through placement.
