Hi, can you please explain what they mean when they say he is a a 1500 or a 2000 player.
Hi Ron,
This is a USTTA rating that people are referring to.
Perhaps someone who is in the sysytem could explain more on the relative standards.
A Rating for:
a beginner who is playing their first tournament
a player who has played for a year
a player at high club level
a player at State level
a player in the National team
Sometimes it can seem like a player can do everything. When this is the case you need to find their weakest area and try to expose it as much as you can.

Beginners playing their first tournaments will usually have ratings below 1000. An average club player (at the club I belong to) probably has a rating around 1500.
