I would like to ask, how can I make my handle waterproof without putting grip tape? As I have severe sweaty palms, I want to prevent the sweat from soaking into my wood, but also would like to remove the grip tape as it gets smelly overtime.
Hi Shawn,
Thanks for your question! Unfortunately, it's not really possible to make your handle waterproof without using grip tape. If you see a sealant they tend to be slippery. However, there are a few strategies you can use to reduce the amount of sweat soaking into the wood. First, make sure you're using a sweatband when you play. This will help absorb a lot of the sweat, and can also help keep your hands dry. Lastly, you could try using a sweat-resistant grip tape, such as a synthetic rubber tape, to help keep the sweat out. I used to use a piece of bicycle tube on the handle which also worked well.
Hope this helps! Good luck and happy playing!
Make sure you buy a table tennis bat that is suitable for your level and allows you to develop your technique. For your first bat we recommend the PingSkills Rook, and when you upgrade to a custom bat we recommend the PingSkills Touch with Mark V or Rakza 7.
