Strategy
hi i would like to know what serves are effective against a player who uses power+topspin a lot on the forehand. also my friend is an offensive player so would it better to have a defensive strategy or offensive strategy?
Hi Johnathan,
If you are playing a strong attacker it is best to try and serve the ball short (close to the net) on their side. This will stop them from attacking easily.
In general if you can attack first against an aggressive player it is best as it will give them a ball they do not like. Most attackers like a passive defensive ball to be able to attack.
In our Match Strategy we have a lesson on Playing An Attacking Looper.
Most table tennis rallies last just 3.4 shots. So if you want to win more matches, you need to master the short game! In this episode of the PingSkills Show, you’ll learn why the short game is so important and how to control the first few shots to stop your opponent from attacking first.
Whether you’re struggling with your short push, not sure when to flick, or want to stop giving away easy attacks, this video will help you play smarter.
