Hi Maaz,

Yes that was a very long time ago...

I used the high toss pendulum serve mainly at that stage.  I had trained in China for a while and remember practicing that serve for about an hour every day so it was working well at that time.  I felt confident in using it and the follow up I would get which is one of the real secrets to serving.

THANK YOU ALOIS!

i first used pendulum serve and tomahawk serve. now i have learned reverse pendulum serve and reverse tomahawk serve. i have been sucessful in faking reverse pendulum serve, i start of with a middle high toss and swing my hand back as if i am going to do a pendulum serve as i contact i chnage the position of the bat to do a reverse pendulum serve, i usually serve deep into the forehand or the back hand

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT IT?

Sounds like you are doing well.  Keep practicing it.

Hi Alois.

Where was that match vs Italy played? In the old table tennis centre at Albert Park? That had a special display court with stands at the end, as I recall. I started playing at that centre in the late 70's / early 80's. I used to love playing there.

regards,

Martin

Hi Martin,

This match was played in Perth at their Table Tennis centre.  I do though have a lot of fond memories of the old Albert Park stadium.  I still have dreams where I wake up thinking I am in there again.

about the pendulum serve, when I see the Flick Stroke video, it seems like you can do backspin, sidespin, and topspin on it, so I want to know that the pendulum serve put what spin on the ball ? if i can put all of the spin, then which is better ?
and also for the high toss, it's easy to put backspin on it but when I try to high toss and make a pendulum serve, I found that it's hard to contact the ball to the bat
please for the answer ^^

You can put any spin on the ball with the pendulum serve.  Which is better depends on which serve your opponent doesn't like at that time.

For the high toss serve you need to practice the toss and the contact more to get the contact right.
