Hello Alois!

For a long time I have been playing with a normal racket from STIGA with the same rubber on both sides. I recently decided to "build" my own racket with a blade and two rubbers. I used a carbon based blade and on one side I used a rubber with a very high speed and spin and on the other side I used an anti-spin rubber. When I play i use my forehand to play long topspin balls and my backhand to push. Its good at the start of matches but when my opponent realise that I only do hard hits with my forehand he avoid hitting the ball to my forehand.

What shall I do? Can I swith sides to the anti-spin to my forehand between serves to I can attack with my backhand? Are there any good strokes you can make with the anti-spin? Should I switch back to my old racket?

Thanks! With love Isak

Hi Isak,

It is good that you have progressed your racket however, the anti spin is probably not the best thing for you at this stage.  I would change the rubber on the backhand to a normal rubber that you can attack with.

This will give you more options to play and develop your game.

What a lot of advanced level defenders do is twiddle their bat so that they can have both rubbers at their disposal in both sides. Not really recommended but if you're really desperate then go for it.
