How to attack heavy backspin returns that are short and to my backhand side ?
Is it ever even possible to 'chiquita' it ?
Hi Anand,
If the ball is short with backspin, the easiest thing to do to start with is to push the ball back short. This will then lead to an opportunity to make an attack if you opponent goes long no the next ball.
If you want to try and attack the short backspin ball you can try to flick it You will need to open the face of your racket up to counter the backspin. You could also try the Backhand Sidespin Flick which is a more advanced stroke.
Alois explains the key principles of returning serve. He covers topics such as using your bat like a rudder and how a serve can only have one type of spin
