Backhand Counterhit
Strokes
martin Law Asked 18 years ago
is the counter hit counted as spin? I don't understand.

Hi Martin,
When you play a counterhit, you do impart a small amount of topspin on the ball. If you follow the basic action you will naturally generate the topspin.
If you want to impart more topspin and hence be able to hit the ball harder and still have it land on the table, take a look at our Forehand Topspin lesson (also known as a forehand loop) .
Please let us know if this clears things up.

Forehand Chop
The forehand chop is a defensive stroke played away from the table. It is mainly used by defenders but can also be incorporated into an attackers game when forced away from the table.
