Hi Coach,
It seems I have a very solid forehand loop/counter hit, and a pretty good backhand loop. But whenever i practice i have trouble hitting a backhand hit without any spin to the place I want, it goes wherever. How can I fix this problem? I have already watched your video about the backhand counterhit but that does not seem to fix the problem.
Also, when hitting a backhand, where should the thumb be, to the side or straight up?
Thanks,
Akilesh
Hi Akilesh,
Start by going back to basics by hitting the ball very slowly and softly and flat. Put a small target on the table and watch to see how close your shots are getting to the target. Keep it very slow and just watch. Dont try to force it to the target. As you notice the ball getting more consistently closer to the target you can increase the pace very slightly. If you notice that the ball is starting to stray again slow the ball down again. Keep doing this for a few practice sessions and see if it helps.
