What advantages shall I get by defencing with short pimples over long pimples?
& can you suggest some market available defensive shortpimple rubbers.

Hi Paul,

I think the main advantage is if you are closer to the table then it is easier to control the pushes and dictate the type of spin on the ball rather than being at the mercy of your opponent.

You can tend to generate your own spin better even with defence.

The long pimples make it easier to slow down a fast attacking stroke when you are defending.

I don't have a suggestion for a good short pimple for defence but I am sure others will be able to help here.

Choosing a Table Tennis Bat

Make sure you buy a table tennis bat that is suitable for your level and allows you to develop your technique. For your first bat we recommend the PingSkills Rook, and when you upgrade to a custom bat we recommend the PingSkills Touch with Mark V or Rakza 7.

Paul,I have little personal experience when it comes to shortpips,as I am a longpimple defender and I started to twiddle a lot in order to keep control.
However I have knowledge that TSP Spinpips series are very good to defend with.
Also you can try DHS.
Those are the two that are said to be used by professional shortpips defenders.
