I lose so many points by smash. I realized that I can't return smash very well with my backhand. So I usually stand on my backhand side. and then my partner just smash to forehand side really fast and I can't even touch the ball. What should I do?

Hi Kyungwoon,

I think the best solution is to work on your Backhand lob.  Think of it as a relaxed big topspin from away from the table.  Take a look at our lesson on the Lob for more specific instruction on the stroke.

Otherwise you will always struggle in this situation because they will just keep smashing the ball to your backhand side.

Forehand Pivot Footwork

The pivot is where you are moving around your backhand corner to play a forehand. This is something that will come in handy in a match situation, especially if you have a stronger forehand. We will show you the best way to move in the pivot footwork.

I especially like to copy Michael maze on the BH lob and the way he gets some side and topspinOman his lobs. Watch his matches at the shanghai wttc in particular.
