i have a lot of trouble doing backhand loops over 80% of the time they never hit the table half the time it hits the net and half the time it flies up into the sky. How am i meant to improve this so i can start to hit the table with my backhand loop consistently?

Hi Abdullahi,

Unfortunately, the only solution is practice.  You need to make sure you have correct position to the ball.  I find position is a really important part of backhand technique even more than with the forehand.

Then make sure you have the stroke correct.  Watch the lesson on the Backhand Loop Off Backspin and then video yourself to see if your technique looks the same.  then comes the many hours of repetitive training to get it feeling comfortable.

Find a comfortable hitting position for your backhand.  This is usually in front of you.  Each player will feel comfortable in a slightly different position.  Then it is important no matter where the ball is to move so that the ball is in this position.

You need to start the swing lower, more near your stomach so that you can come up on the ball and get some topspin on the ball by coming up and forward on the swing.  If you start too high you have nowhere to lift to get the topspin.
