Hi Alois, I've just went to a club where I saw a few guys do backhand reverse pendulum serves that I've never seen before. Somehow it generated more spin then my forehand reverse. I think it's awsome and would like to learn it. Any ideas how to do it? Also Backhand topspin, backspin and side chop.

Hi Mike,

I am not sure which serve you mean.  Are they in the Pendulum serve position and then use the backhand side of their bat or are they in a backhand serving position and then come back and hit the ball the other way?

Let me know and I will help you out.

What I mean for the serve is that he stands in the pendulum position, but he brushes the ball with his backhand, which gives it some kind of backspin sidespin which is really difficult to return.

I've never heard of/seen that before, but I like the sound of it.  I can't have enough serves in my repertoire!  Better practice that the next chance I get! :o)

The principles are exactly the same as the Pendulum serve but you are just turning your bat over and hitting it with the backhand side. I remember one of my junior pennant partners doing this serve in 1974. You can do all the same serves as with the Pendulum serve. Give it a try and then you will understand better what they are doing.
