Hello Pingskills,

I need a lot of training in basic strokes, but I found out for myself, that the backhand sidespin flick suits very well my abilities. Since, I'm a professional drummer, my wrist control is pretty developed, fast and effortless, So the sidespin flick comes to me naturally easy.

I noticed that straightening up my body a little, instead stayin low, works with this kind of stroke better. I get better results in consistency. Should I experiment with it more or leave it and keep staying low during this stroke.

If I have to tilt the racket a lot, it's also easier to move the wrist with a more straighten body position

Hi Marcin,

If the higher position feels more comfortable at this stage then keep experimenting with it.  The higher position may allow you to get the wrist dropped down over the table more easily.

Judging the Length of a Serve

A really important skill in table tennis is to be able to judge if a serve will be short or long. If it's short you won't be able to take a full swing at the ball and hence will need to use either a push or a flick to return the ball. However, if it is coming long then you can make a topspin attack. In this video we give you some tips to help you judge the length of the serve and hopefully this makes you a better returner.
