Receiving

hello pingskills

I was watching videos of Fan Zhendong play and I was amazed at how easily he can flick balls with side spin and back spin so easily. I also noticed that he usually flicks with the spin off of the opponents right handed pendulum serve

My question is: Is it easier or better to do a backhand sidespin flick going with the spin or against it.

Thanks very much

Hi Bryan,

I think it feels easier to do it with the ball coming into the bat as in from the Pendulum serve.

Fake Movements

After the ball has left the server's bat, they can no longer affect the spin that is on the ball. Any movements after the contact are referred to as fake movements and are meant to confuse you as the receiver. You need to focus on the contact to read the spin.
