Dear Alois:

I was watching the video on forehand smash.  Is there any stroke called as backhand smash because I find backhand counterhit, backhand chop etc and not backhand smash.

If there is any such stroke, then how to execute that stroke.  Whether the same technique that is followed in forehand smash like getting the feet moving back and forth needs to be followed in backhand smash.

Kindly give your valuable guidance.

With Warm Regards,
Ram

Hi Ram,

If you have enough time always step around and make a Forehand smash as it is a lot easier to generate good speed with the forehand.  As soon as you see the ball up high enough you should use your feet to step around and make the forehand smash.

Anticipation

How is it that a player can always seem to get back those extremely fast topspins? Is it their incredible anticipation? The key to good anticipation actually lies in tracking the ball well. When you watch the ball closely your peripheral vision will pick up your opponents movements and with lots of practice those signs will help you anticipate what your opponent is going to do. This happens naturally with lots of experience. So it it your job to ensure that you are tracking the ball really carefully.
