Hi Alois. I have messed up my backhand.I can't make a decision on playing low underspin serves. Whether i push them or topspin them.In that confusion i net the ball or hit it outside. What should I be doing. In fact I have no confidence and that has made a huge impact on my game in spite of having a strong forehand. Please suggest some drill so that I can get my backhand right.
Hi Sujeet,
Practice the two strokes first to make sure you feel confident in being able to play them.
Then get someone to serve the ball just to your backhand but varying the length, some short to push and some longer to topspin. As you start to get the feel and understanding of the short and long balls you will start to be able to make quicker decisions. Then get them to serve the ball to anywhere on the table including your forehand. Vary the length of the serve to enable you to make decisions between the push and topspin.
If you are not feeling confident at any time in this, go to an easier level of the drill to gain confidence.
