Strokes
Hi Coach,
At the moment, after several weeks of practice my success rate of backhand topspin against backspin is only 50%. This is not good as I need it to be 90% especially when there is not much backspin on the ball.
The face of my rubber (racket) is fairly flat basically parallel to the table edge ,I start below table and goes up same way as you explain.
However, after re-visiting Jeff lessons I noticed that at his start position (when racket is below table) his wrist is curved backwards. If we think of a triangle : His wrist is facing the opponent rather than the face of his racket(rubber still perpendicular to floor). The face of his rubber is basically facing the left side of the table.
Should I make the adjustment to curve my wrist.
Regards
Rama
Hi Rama,
This will not be the main issue. The wrist will add a little bit of speed but not necessarily more consistency.
Just take more time to practice the stroke. It may take more than a few weeks to get it right because there may be slight variations of spin that you are playing against.
