Strokes
I am unclear about the role of the wrist in the backhand topspin. Should the wrist open up in the vertical plane or some oblique angled plane? And I would like to say that I really like all your video lectures.
Hi Viki,
The plane of your bat and wrist can vary depending on how fast you want to hit the ball and how much backspin or topspin there is on the ball you are hitting.
If there is a lot of topspin on the ball then you can go through horizontally. If there is a lot of backspin you will need to go through more vertically.
Also the more forward you go the faster your shot will be.
Finally you can go forward on almost any ball but your bat need to be moving really fast of a backspin ball. This of course will lead to more inconsistency.
It is all a trade off between speed and consistency.
