Hi !

Yesterday, my friend asked me : '' Is it true that backhand strokes are usually weaker but has more control than forehand strokes and they require less footwork ? ''.I have been playing tt for a long time and I know that is quite true for most of the players but I don't have a proper reason, I just feel  it's right, that's all.

Many thanks,

Lan.

Hi Lan,

Forehands tend to be mor eattacking because you can swing a little bigger with the forehand swing.  Of course some people turn more side on to the backhand side and can swing fats using the backhand instead.

The backhand can tend to have more control because you are directly behind the ball and the swing tends to be a little smaller.

As far as less footwork for the backhand, I am not sure.  If anything I think you can adjust a little easier with the forehand than the backhand.  I think people tend to use the forehand from more of the court so they need to move more for the forehands.
