Hi Tristan,

A backspin return will make it difficult for your opponent to attack but a decent player will be able to return it without hitting it into the net. They will know how to counter the backspin either with a push or a topspin.

The key to getting a lot of backspin is to hit the ball with a fine brushing contact and a fast swing.
