can I slice (slide) against a mean backspin backhand serve on my backhand , when topspin doesn't work?

same question against a backspin forehand serve.

Hi Michel,

You can push or slice it back.  If you can keep the return short that is ideal but if not then push it deep and fast.

thanks a lot; more specifically I'd like to know if there are any no-nos with slicing back against slice; do you slice the same way against the direction of the spin or along with it?

Hi Michel,

Follow the line of the ball with your push.  Then just angle the bat to allow for the spin either way.

At the higher level, pushing a long push is a no-no but if played effectively at other levels you can play it effectively.  If they have a strong topspin attack against backspin then you may be in trouble.
