Hi Alois,

just two question, what will happen if you accidentally step on the ball in tournaments/compititions and it breaks?

Second, how do you fix a broken table tennis ball?

Regards

Hi Ronald,

If you step on the ball in a tournament they will just use a new ball.  There is no penalty.

If the ball is slightly dented you can put it in boiling water.  This will make it almost round again.  It is not perfect but it is usable.

If the ball is broken, as in it has a crack in it then you can't fix it.

Now this is what I really love about Pingskills: on top of all the great advice and video lessons on how to play the game, little tips like popping a crushed ball into boiling water and, bingo, I get to save a small fortune on all the training balls I step on when practising against my robot!

Thanks, guys.  :)

Hi Alois,

I train with Butterfly youth and Tibhar basic balls.

In addition to training in the club I also practice at home. The balls break very

fast(a week maximum). Is it becuse the drills i play at home?(hitting the ball

again and again towards the wall and your video practicing at home)

Another question is what ball companies are worth the purchase, and

which balls in those companies?

the best wishes,

Daniel

i play alone and 2 of my balls 1 3 star and 1 1 star bot broke wen hitting te walls after a few days of practising since i dont have a table to play on

I would try to find a piece of wood to put against the wall if you find the ball is breaking a lot.  This will soften teh impact.  They do tend to break quickly against a brick or concrete type wall.

There are a lot of good balls.  I would get a training ball to start with though when doing this sort of activity. They are a lot cheaper and will last quite well.

about the dented ball, my friend ever said to me to put it in the boiled water. it's work on the 1 star ball but not in the 3 stars ball... (i  use the boiled water and pour it on the ball) so, where's the boiled water must be place on the ball ? in the dented place or all around ? or what i do is probably wrong ? if i wrong, please tell me the right way (maybe sink the ball to the boiled water ? etc) if i right, then why it still dented ?

please for the answer :D

thank you ^^

oh yeah i forgot. i want to ask what's the possibility of the ball cracked ? and how to prevent it ?

thanks :D

It is difficult to prevent.  Just make sure you are not hitting it against a hard wall.  They don't crack very often in general play.  They would usually last for several weeks.

a lot oh smash can make it easily to break ? then if i must not hitting it against a hard wall, then when i try to practice alone i must hit what king of wall as a subtitute ?

then, about the dented ball. i have some problomes with the 3 stars one (just like what i've said) can you tell me more clearly or even make the video so i can really know how to recover the ball (i afraid what i've do take the effect to the ball)

please for the answer :D thank you ^^

Try to hit it against a plaster or wooden wall rather than a concrete or brick wall.

To repair a dented ball you can put it all in boiling water.  They will come out but they are never quite the same.

oh i see... is it took a long time to make it come out ?
