Ball goes down

Strokes

Hi coaches,

as I observed my games during the pasts tournaments. I noticed that my common error is that when I counterhit (FH and BH) a topspin or sidespin, sometimes it goes down straight to the net. I can't identify whats the problem is, whether the power of my stroke, how I hit the ball, or the angle of my bat.  this happens twice to thrice a set and it hurts me so much because 2-3 points is important for me specially on close games.

All your lessons helps a lot. I hope you can help me on this problem also. :)

Hi Patrick,

The first thing to check is your rubber.  It may be the rubber being dead that is causing the ball to go down.

The next thing is are you recognising if there is less topspin on the ball or the sidespin from your opponent is making the ball drag down.

Then it may be your stroke technique.  Do you need to make your stroke more vertical or make the contact faster to get more lift.

Take a look at each time this happens and see if you can work out what is happening.

Hey Coach, when I get a shot at high speed is easy for me to return it, I can do to improve the technique and to return the shot?

Hi Andres,

It may be a matter of watching the ball more closely to be able to see it quicker.
