Hi Alois, I would like to know if hitting the ball late or early affects how high the ball bounces on the opponents side and how much spin you can generate on the ball. (I'm a late ball player by the way). Is one or the other a better player? Also what should I be thinking of when placing the ball because sometimes I can't return the ball when I have good technique. Thanks
Hi Hung,
The main factor in how high the ball goes is how high you hit it from and the angle of your bat. You can do this from various positions in relation to your body. When hit out in front of, next to or a little behind your body you can still get the ball low or high depending on those two factors.
The amount of spin you generate depends on the contact. It is difficult if to get good contact if the ball is too far ahead or behind you.
I think you should just aim to get a comfortable hitting position for you and then work on those other things like height and spin.
