Basically no spin in the Malin ghost serve?

Serving

Hey Alois,

I watched your Malin ghost serve video. I cannot get that much spin so it goes back into the net. I am a penhold player. Also, switching from shakehand serve to penhold grip is awkward and I lose much time on it. Do you know any serve which would benefit me and would not be too hard to execute?

Thanks !

Hi Tommy,

Try the Ghost serve but brush right under the base of the ball.  You can even think about brushing up the front of the ball if you can imagine that concept.

It is also important to get the contact right to get the ball spinning.  Do this away from the table first and try to get the ball spinning back to you on the ground.

To modify your grip you don't need to do a Penhold grip, just take the 3 fingers away from the handle and put them in a fist behind the handle.  This will allow you to use your wrist the same as with the Penhold grip.
