Hi Alois,

I have the robo-pong at home. When I practice the stroke, sometime it make me feel boring or make my hand tire. If the ball feed so fast, it make me tire, but the ball feed to low will make me boring and lose the control. With your experence, please tell me what is the normal speed for the stroke (such as forehand counter hit, back hand counter hit, forehand top spin, and back hand top spin) that I should set up so I have the smooth and better stroke.

Thanks,

Thinh Tran

Hi Thinh,

I haven't used a robot much, and each robot will have different settings.  I think what you should do is hit about 20 to 30 balls at a slow speed and then turn it up a little faster.  Do this again.  Keep doing this until you feel comfortable at a certain speed.

You can use the robot for different things.  If you are looking to develop your technique and make sure it is smooth, then keep the speed low.  If you are looking to develop your speed and reactions then you can turn it up a little faster each time.

You have to gauge this speed for yourself and feel when it is comfortable for each purpose you are using it for.

When you need to reach that really wide ball the regular shuffle step just won't get you there in time so you need to use the crossover step. This is essentially a running action to get you to the ball as fast as possible.
