Hi Alois how are you and how are things down your neck of the woods? My question is this.
How do you cope better against people with a massive wind ups forehand-backhand.? They generate huge amounts of spin on the ball making it turn away very quickly. Right to left, left to right. Most of them stand nearer the table than far away. I have played quite a few of these players and do very well.
But it is never easy against these players if you're 1cm out errors immediately appear. How can we as players make it easier to play them.? Thank you for helping me and others Alois we appreciate it.!!
Hi Justin,
I like playing players like this. I feel that I can be more consistent than them. By keeping the pressure on them over the period of the match you can slowly wear them down. It is important to keep the ball as tight as possible during the game. They tend to run on confidence. Even if they are making a few big shots, keep at it. If they could make the big shots consistently over the period of the match then they are just to good.
A chopper likes to get back from the table and get into a nice rhythm. If you keep the defender close to the table in the early part of the rally, it's hard for them to transition back into their chopping position. So keep the ball short on your serve and try and catch them unprepared. Watch the video to find out more great tactics to use against a defensive chopper.
