hi there, love your tutorials and advice on table tennis, i have a timo boll alc blade and joola varnish, I've heard that the handles absord a lot of moisture, and experienced the grains lifting when removing rubbers, i was just wondering what is your opinion on sealing the bat, and if it should be done on the handle also?

Hi Al,

I am not a big fan of sealing blades now.  The number of times you change rubber isn't significant.  The sealer can make it a little more difficult to stick your rubber down.  When players used speed gel and were changing their rubber often, I think it was useful to seal the bald but not now.

I wouldn't recommend it for the handle either as it makes the grip more slippery.
