Hi Alois I have recently joined a club and am having difficulty with my defence, my offence is good. I can't seem to get better at blocking because my partner doesn't hit fast top spins so I don't block anything. What should I do? If it is possible how do I block a slower hit so that I can still block a bit with my partners' not so fast or spiny shots? Thanks for all your help in this matter.

Hi Matthew,

To block the slower balls make sure you are taking the ball earlier at the top of the bounce.  Then push your racket through more forward to generate the pace yourself.

To counter the slower spinny topspin, take a look at this lesson on how to Counter a Slow Spinny Topspin.

  2. Start Position: Positioning your racket and body correctly to initiate the stroke effectively.
  3. Finish Position: Completing the stroke in a way that prepares you for the next shot.

Additionally, we discuss how to adjust your bat angle if the ball goes long, emphasizing the importance of maintaining the same start and finish positions without coming across your body.

Whether you're a beginner aiming to build a solid foundation or an advanced player looking to refine your technique, this comprehensive guide is designed to enhance your game.
