Discussion
After about 90 hrs playing and training, several player here have experienced cracks in and around center of Tenergy 64 rubbers, they are properly glued and conserved, off play + strong driving, >33ºC temp. and very high air related humidity (amazon delta). It only happens to 64, not to 05, bryce etc., may it have to do with the wide 64 pimple spacing x climatic conditions?
Hi Rene,
That is an interesting observation. I have no expertise in this area. Lets put it out there for discussion.

I think this is a question for the manufacturers or their technicians.
Rene van der Kleij Posted 11 years ago
I did send an email to BTY, but no answer as yet.

Got another T64 cracking, I would like to post a picture of the damage. Can that be done?
Jeff Plumb from PingSkills Posted 11 years ago
If you attach the picture to an email and send it to Alois or myself, I can add the picture to this discussion.

I did send three pictures
Alois Rosario from PingSkills Posted 11 years ago
Where did you send them?

Here they are:

thats really a shame esp for it to happen to such expensive rubbers....
Arnab Ghosh Posted 11 years ago
Whoa! this really is strange, I have played with really cheap rubbers, even they don't deteriorate in such fashion. I don't know about pimples spacing, but in general, any rubber cracks when they extend and shrink in heat and cool respectively. When they are exposed to heat, they stretch, and during cooling down, they shrink causing the cracks. But I am not sure if that applies here.

Hi Rene,
Are you sure they're butterfly products? I read a page here which there are some counterfeit products on the market.
Have a look at this page - http://goo.gl/zRh1X
Rene van der Kleij Posted 11 years ago
I'm aware of the counterfeit products, but mine were suplied by BTY - Netherlands, and the damage also happened with the Brazilian suplied rubbers. It's really quite normal to happen here, ofcourse I've had it by now and will change to T-05, but would like to know why it happened.
Alois Rosario from PingSkills Posted 11 years ago
Have you used a lot of glue or something else on this rubber? That is a lot of cracking to happen. This would not normally happen with just hitting.
Rene van der Kleij Posted 11 years ago
No, even tried the BTY chack sheet with identical results, gluing is done correctly with free chack II and no air trapped between rubber and blade, what also happens sometimes before cracking is that you can see that one or two broken pimples forming a small bubble without showing rupture of the rubber surface, the cracking will take place a day or two later, but that's not the rule. I do use a blade/rubber press for a few hours to assure even pressure is applied, the angle of the cracking into the rubber from right to left, must have to do with strong forehand driving.

I have never seen it that bad before.

Got an aswer from BTY, the Latin American BTY representative will take the matter to Japan this month, i'll wait and will post their findings a.s.a. I get them.
Alois Rosario from PingSkills Posted 11 years ago
Thanks Rene.
Rene van der Kleij Posted 11 years ago
Well, BTY Japan did inform the results of the analises, here they are:
The top sheets are broken as you informed us
These breaks seem to have been caused because the sheets had pot possessed enough strength to withstand the shock of the play
Please accept our sincere apologies for the inconvenience caused due to the defect.
We appreciate your valuable information and will work to improve the quality of our product continuously.
We wish you good health and success.

Thanks Rene.

What happened in the end? Did they replace the rubber?
Rene van der Kleij Posted 11 years ago
No they didn’t, but I wasn’t after warranty. BTY did admit it was a defect as I suspected, I changed back to Tenergy 05.
Martin Coronel Posted 11 years ago
i know they are counterfeit i think because look at the names of the rubber the tenergy it is like the same in the counterfeit picture it is thicker than the authentic rubber
Rene van der Kleij Posted 11 years ago
The Rubbers were originals for sure, I bought them from an authorized BTY dealer, and for analyses I was asked to send the packaging as well. If the rubbers were not originals, BTY Japan wouldn't oversee it.
