Changing rubber before a tournament

Equipment

Hi Alois. I just registered for a national singles tournament coming up in 2 weeks. My coach told me that I should replace the rubber before the tournament. But I still feel that my rubbers are still quite grippy so I feel like I shouldn't replace it. And everytime I replace my rubbers, I need quite a lot of time to adjust. What do you suggest?

Hi Jasper,

In general I don't recommend players change rubber too close to a tournament especially if they are not used to playing with brand new rubbers.

Tone is in Your Fingers

There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!

I heard this tournament has a lot of players with high standards. Any words of wisdom before I play?

Focus on playing your best. Prepare well. It doesn’t matter the level of your opponents.
