Changing Rubbers

Equipment

I recently watched a 6 min video on Xu Xin http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k5P25njgcYA in the video he said that he changes his rubbers every 7-10 days, obviously as a professional athlete he has to change his rubbers more than me, but still. I have been using a premade racket (Blade-Grubba Carbon FL, Rubbers-Tackifire Drive on both sides) for about 1-2 years now, the blade works well and I clean the rubbers about every other day. Should I worry about replacing them with new rubber sheets?

Hi Dhruv,

The best thing is to check to see if your rubber still has grip.  Rub your finger across and see if it is slippery or grippy.

After 2 years it is probably time to change rubbers.  It will effect the performance of your strokes.

Tone is in Your Fingers

There's is an old saying about guitar playing - tone is in your fingers. And If you've ever seen a really good guitarist play an old guitar then you'll understand how true that saying is. I know we go on a lot about this topic but it is so true. Once you've got yourself a decent bat, it's no longer up to the equipment, it's up to YOU!

Thank you for the advice. My rubber has quite a solid grip and I'm able to get quite a bit of spin and speed out of it. Since I only play privately right now, once I start playing in clubs I'll purchase some new sheets of rubber.
