hi

At the moment i play chinese penhold. I have seen videos on the japanese pengrip.it looks very similar to me. is this true? And also , i am mainly a defensive player that plays alot of spin shots and serves and attacks on my forehand with a lot of topspin when i can. which grip and blade would be more suited to my play?

thanks

Hi Harry,

Both grips are legitimate and can be used for th etype of play you are talking about.  You need to put both of them in your hand and see which feels more comfortable.  This is the main difference.

Strawberry Flick

The strawberry flick is the opposite of the banana flick and involves utilising the wrist to get the ball spinning with topspin and sidespin. Used in conjunction with the banana flick it can be very deceptive. The banana flick is a more reliable stroke and that's why you see more top players using it over the strawberry flick.
