I have been playing table tennis for quite a while now i am getting good and playing tournaments so i am searching for the right blade for my style of play. my forehand is good and im really agressive with smashing and looping. but my back hand is decent and getting better and i need a paddle with good control so i can improve my backhand. which blade should i get?

Hi Tony,

Great to hear you are making good progress with your Table Tennis! Playing tournaments is a great way to help you improve.

As always with equipment, it is important to choose a reputable brand and then not focus too much on the equipment but rather on your technique. There are probably hundreds of different blades that would suit your game so try not to worry too much about a particular one.

Having said that based on what you have described you could try the following blades which have a good amount of control.

  •  Stiga All Round Classic - this blade is a little on the slow side but does have great control
  • Stiga Clipper - this blade is much faster than the all round classic but still has pretty good control
  • Butterfly Primorac - this blade is the one I currently use and has good control and feeling.
Look out for these items in our online store in the near future. We will be adding more and more equipment over the coming months.

Remember as long as it is a reputable brand and you know several good players of a similar style to you who use the blade, you can't go too wrong.
