Hi Maggie,

It's great to hear you're looking to upgrade your setup to improve your game. The Nittaku Violin is a fantastic choice with its all-wood composition, known for its excellent feel and control. Since you're an intermediate player looking to add speed to your game, you'll want a rubber that complements the control-oriented nature of your blade while providing that extra zip you're after.

Here are a couple of rubber recommendations that should work well with your Nittaku Violin:

  • Butterfly Tenergy 05: This is a popular choice among many players who seek to add speed and spin to their strokes without sacrificing too much control. It has a springy sponge that will help in generating more speed and is excellent for offensive play.
  • Xiom Vega Pro: This rubber is a bit more forgiving than Tenergy 05 and still offers a good balance of speed and spin. It's less expensive but very effective for players looking to enhance their game with more aggressive shots.

Both these rubbers should boost your speed while maintaining the natural feel of your all-wood blade. When choosing, consider your style of play and what aspects of your game you feel could benefit the most from the rubber's characteristics. It might also be helpful to discuss with a coach or more experienced players who can watch your playstyle and offer personalized advice.

Lastly, remember that increasing speed also requires practice, especially in your footwork and stroke mechanics, to control that extra pace effectively. Good luck with your game, Maggie, and hope this helps you make a great choice.
