Hi Alois and Jeff, I am a young and upcoming attacking chopper and I am ready to get some better rubbers. Currently I use Friendship Chinese inverted rubber on my forehand and Butterfly challenger short pips on my backhand. I would appriciate some suggestions on rubbers that I could use and also what would be best for my play style. Long or short pips.

Thanks a million,

Jeremiah Samuels

Hi Jeremiah,

I think the friendship rubber for the forehand is still OK.  Is there a reason you want to change away from the Friendship?

On the backhand you can start to experiment with Long Pimples.  This will give you more effect on the chop and also help you to be able to control the faster ball.

Yes, I have had the friendship rubber for quite some time now and it is starting to lose it's grip, do you think that I should get another friendship rubber and apply it to my blade or get a different rubber. I will experiment with the long pips with my coach thank you for that feedback.

I think you can just get a new sheet of Friendship.  You will find her will be a good improvement with the new sheet if the old one is losing it's grip.  It will also allow a bit more continuity with the forehand especially if you are making the big change on the backhand side.

Thank you very much Alois for your help, I have one of my weekly training sessions tomorrow so I will ask my coach about changing rubbers.

Thanks A million,
