People talk about cleaning rackets, but what about balls? Should I only use water and a sponge, or should I use disinfectant?
Hi Adam,
Good question — cleaning balls is often overlooked, but it does make a difference especially in a dusty environment.
Water and a soft cloth or sponge are usually enough.
Just dampen the cloth slightly and wipe the ball.
Avoid soaking the balls or using hot water, as it may affect their shape or bounce over time.
You can use a mild disinfectant, but:
Make sure it's alcohol-free or very diluted.
Avoid anything harsh like bleach — it can damage the surface and affect grip/spin.
Wipe them down afterward with water to remove any residue.
Abrasive cleaners or rough sponges — they can scuff the surface.
Dishwashers or soaking — some balls deform under heat or extended moisture exposure.
