hi

i live in sydney and would like to know if there are any group coaching sessions near westmead area. I had been to one in olympic park which was good but it is only on tuesday nights. How many times a week should i play to become a good player? the other thing is i get callus / corn where my fingers join my right palm - is that normal? how can i avoid it? i play roughly 3 times a week for 1-2 hours each time and apply lots of hand creme throughout the day. will a grip (used on tennis racquets) help? i dont think i grip my racquet too tight too.

cheers

Yili

Hi Yili,

I will send you a contact in NSW via email.

You should play as many times as you can and enjoy.  That is the way you will reach your potential. Sometimes we just can't train as many times as we want to but make sure the sessions you do are good quality.

Playing 3 to 4 times a week is a good amount.

As far as callouses, they are very normal as the bat is rubbing constantly on your hand.  I am not a docotr but what you are doing sounds fine.  I don't think a tennis grip will help much but you can give it a try and let us know.
