Mental Preparation
Hey,
This question is more about thinking and tactics instead of skill but if I lose a point against my opponent and he cheers or says "yes" it puts me off and I struggle with the rest of the game. Is there anything I can do to be able to concentrate and not be put off by it?
Thanks for all your other answers to my questions, they were very helpful.
Hi Zachary,
If something like that is worrying you, try to turn your attention and focus somewhere else. One way that you can do that is by taking a deep breath after the rally. The other thing to do is just accept what they are doing. It is not something that they are doing against you but rather a personal celebration and something that helps them.
The more you hear it the more immune you will get to it.
Most drills involve one person performing the exercise and the other placing the ball as required by the exercise. We call this person placing the ball the controller. When you are acting as the controller it is a great opportunity to practice your blocking and concentration. As blocking is an important part of the game you should be 100% focused at this time. You also owe it to your training partner to be blocking effectively so they get the most from their exercise.
