Training
My training partner and I both use long pips on our backhand. The forehand drills are no problem, but we are wondering how to handle the backhand drills since the strokes are so different.
Would you recommend one person moving to the left and returning everything with their inverted side or twiddle the paddle and just block the long pips back? Or are we completely off track?
Thanks.

Hi Wanda,
You can do any or all of the suggested.
I think an easy way to start would be for the controller to move around and use their forehand block on their backhand corner or just change the drill and do it to their forehand corner.
You could also do any of the drills to the other persons long pimples as a variation.
A third simple option is for the controller to use their inverted rubber on their backhand side to block.
A key tactic in Table Tennis is to serve short, get a long return and then attack the third ball with a topspin stroke. It's important in matches to make sure you can make that third ball consistently on the table so you can maintain the pressure on your opponent. This week we give you a number of exercises to work on your consistency.
