Hi coach.

I have recently been practicing my forehand slow loop against a push and at first the ball would overshoot the opponent's edge no matter how thin my contact was. So after some trial and error i found that contacting the ball right at the middle of racket as opposed to the edge (which i was previously doing) landed the ball on the table with a decent amount of spin. My question is : Am i doing the stroke technically right or will it become a problem in the long term if i keep doing it . i know that contacting near the edge translates to more racket head speed so should i try to play that way?

Hi Abhiram,

If the ball is going off the end the other thing that you can do is to close the angle of your racket slightly (turning the forehand face towards the floor).  So you could go back to contacting it closer to the edge and closing the angle and see if that works for you.

Forehand Flick

When your opponent plays a short ball to your forehand, you can play an attacking stroke by using the flick. This stroke is also known as the flip.
