Controlling penhold reverse backhand

Hi Alois,

I have try to use reserve backhand for penholders as you have suggested. But, I got a problem with how to control where I want to put the ball.

I just can make ball goes straight forward from the angle of my body or just tilting a little bit like only 10 degrees. When my opponent stroke the ball widely to my backhand side, I can't return it with my reverse backhand stroke because it will go out.

The another problem is I just can hit the ball if it's high enough. I can't lift the ball. When I try to hit the ball when it's low, it will fall on my own court. I have try to make the angle of my bat more vertically like "hitting ball below table level", but it's so hard to do.

Maybe you can tell me how to do reverse backhand for penholders for various ball

Thanks for your time coach!

Hi Kevin,

It sound like you are in the starting stages of learning the stroke.  Allow yourself more time to learn the control for the stroke.  Getting the angles right can be difficult to start with.  Really work on the basic stroke and control first till you can hit the ball 100 times in a row with your Reverse Backhand.

Once you do that you will be able to start to adjust to the variations like the lower ball or the wider ball but until you develop that control it will always be difficult.

Do you mean hitting 100 balls on a drill or multiball?
